Our tool uses a multi-stage pipeline: first the image is preprocessed with OpenCV (denoising, deskewing, contrast enhancement), then PaddleOCR extracts the raw text, and finally Google Gemini Vision AI interprets the full prescription — including handwritten shorthand, abbreviations, and drug names — and returns a structured output.

Yes. The AI is specifically tuned for difficult handwriting. The preprocessing pipeline corrects skew, enhances contrast, and separates ink from background before OCR. Gemini Vision analyses the actual image pixels in addition to the OCR text, giving it a second layer of understanding. A confidence score is always provided so you know how certain the result is.

The system handles hundreds of standard medical abbreviations including OD (once daily), BD/BID (twice daily), TID/TDS (three times daily), QID (four times daily), PRN (as needed), AC/PC (before/after meals), HS (at bedtime), PO (by mouth), IM (intramuscular), SL (sublingual), stat (immediately), and many more — including the 1-0-1 dosing style common in South Asia.

Not always. Handwriting recognition is challenging even for AI, especially with very messy handwriting, damaged prescriptions, or unusual drug names. That is why every medication has an individual confidence score and the system adds explicit warnings where it is unsure. Always verify the results with your pharmacist or doctor.

No. Your image is uploaded securely over HTTPS, processed immediately, and then deleted from our servers. We never store prescription images permanently and never share them with any third party.

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, and TIFF are all supported. The maximum file size is 15 MB. You can also use your device camera directly from the tool to capture the prescription on the spot.

Yes! The tool is fully mobile-responsive and includes a dedicated 'Use Camera' button that lets you photograph a prescription directly using your phone's rear camera. No app download required.

Whenever the AI confidence for a specific medication is below 65%, it will display a 'Verify' badge on that medication card and add a warning message at the bottom of the results. We also detect common look-alike / sound-alike drug pairs and warn you about those too.
